The school holidays are a wonderful time to visit the Pioneer Settlement. A packed and changing program of fun and interactive activities is held each Victorian holidays.

Among the activities during each school holidays is:

  • Butter churning – make your own butter using traditional methods, then test it out on freshly cooked damper
  • Rope making
  • Pioneer School – dress in pioneer uniform, pledge your allegiance and learn your times tables in this recreation of Mallee school from the early 1900s
  • PS Gem tours – tour our historic and charismatic paddle-steamer with an expert guide
  • Wool spinning
  • Pioneer games like coits, skipping, hula hoops
  • Happy Wanderers bush band playing old-time tunes in the main street
  • Steam workshop, plus see the huge Black Bess in operation
  • Have your photo taken in the Photo Parlour
