Kaiser Stereoscopic Theatre
See the world through the eyes of a pioneer by visiting the Kaiser Stereoscopic Theatre.
Built in Germany in 1895, the theatre gave people a unique view of the world. It showcased trips around the globe, battlefield scenes, and major events. Visitors saw images of coronations, funerals, and disasters like the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
Up to 25 people could sit at the theatre and watch the changing pictures through individual eyepieces.
Today, our theatre is one of only two worldwide, and the only one accessible to the public. So step inside our Mechanics Institute and see the world through the eyes of a pioneer.
