About the PS Pyap
The PS Pyap is a historic paddle steamer built in 1896 in Mannum, South Australia. Measuring nearly 30 meters long and 4.8 meters wide, she’s designed with a shallow draft, allowing her to navigate the Murray River in less than a meter of water. In her early days, the Pyap served as a floating general store, traveling 500 kilometers each week to deliver goods to over 60 settlements and landing places along the lower Murray River. The lower deck featured a serving counter, a store section, and a drapery at the rear, while the crew slept on the upper deck. Today, the PS Pyap offers a unique glimpse into the region’s rich river history.
We look forward to welcoming you aboard the PS Pyap for an unforgettable journey!
